Every year, the Langley Trappers Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club welcome young athletes into our city. These players range from 16 to 20 years old and their stay can last from a few days to a few years!
When these young men become a member of the Langley Trappers, they are often times leaving their hometowns for the first time and learning how to live independently of their families and friends. This is where the billet family becomes very important. The billet family offers a place to sleep, eat, learn, and become a part of the family here in Langley.
Billeting can be a very exciting and rewarding experience for all those willing to open their homes to dedicated hockey players. Many families who have billeted in the past usually look back at their experience with positivity and gratitude. Hopefully, the Billet family will continue watching and supporting the player as their pursuit to play professional hockey continues.

Thinking About Becoming a Billet? Here are a few Q and A’s:
Q: What does being a billet family involve?
A: As a billet family, you’ll provide a “home away from home” for our players. This includes daily meals, basic living necessities, and a private bedroom to ensure their comfort.
Q: Do I need to transport the players to/from the rink?
A: No. The players are responsible for their own transportation to/from the rink. They might even coordinate a carpool with teammates!
Q: How long will I host a player?
A: The billeting commitment spans the 2026/27 season and the playoffs. Players can arrive as early as mid-August 2026 ready for training camp. The regular season ends in February 2027, with playoffs starting in March. If the team does very well during playoffs, the athletes may require accommodation until end of April or early May.
Q: What benefits do I receive?
A: In addition to the experience of hosting an aspiring athlete, you’ll receive a $800 monthly stipend for food expenses. Plus, your immediate family gets Season Tickets to all home games for the Trappers. You will also receive $200.00 of Trappers merchandise of your choice!
Q: Do billeted players have a curfew?
A: Yes, all players living in a billet home have a 10:00pm curfew. Exceptions are game nights, or when the player communicates to the family there is a team event that evening.
Q: Can billeted players invite girls to my home?
A: Rules regarding girlfriends or girls in general are between the family and the player. Girls are not to be at a billet home while the billet family is not home.
Q: How many meals do I need to supply?
A: We ask that both breakfast and dinner and supplied for the player. It is a rule that the player is to be home for dinner every night with the exemption of game nights. It is up to the player and the family to discuss the player missing dinner for activities outside of the hockey team.
